Ales, Stouts & Lagers

Glassware is a key component in one’s enjoyment of the finest of beverages. Not only can the perfect glass catch your eye, capture your attention, and pique one’s interest, but they also play a key role in the pleasure derived from that perfectly formulated stout, lager, or ale. From the moment the first drop of your favorite beverage hits the bottom of the glass to the very last sip you take, the very glass you choose has a profound impact upon not only the taste but the color and aroma as well.

Who would have thought something so simple as the shape of the glass could have such an impression on a drink? While it is true that it can be a tad bit overwhelming selecting the correct glassware for your chosen stout, there are a few things to keep an eye out for before pouring the next perfect glass for poker night.

The standard pint glass is a staple of any bar – be it the favorite one down on the corner or one at home. With a slight taper and wide-mouth, these glasses are typically available in two sizes, 16 and 20 ounces. Volume and ease of use make the pint glass a strong contender for any event from the bar to a night spent in the recliner with the game on full blast.

While the 16-ounce pint may be the glass most commonly used in bars and taverns, the 20 ounce does have it’s advantages as well, and not just the fact that it holds more beer! The 20 ounce, perhaps better known as a British pint or a nonic, is crafted with a small ridge near the top that serves as both a sort-of grip and a tool for easier stacking.

Whether you prefer a 16-ounce glass or 20, know that so long as you are using one of our fine, high-quality stout beer glasses, it’s the perfect drinking size.
